Using flat pattern hat making techniques, I created my own version of the Scarecrows hat from the wizard of Oz. I drafted the pattern myself, and used felt to create the hat itself. It is embellished using raffia straw, a calico band (that was aged and distressed) and hand embroidery stitching around the center band.
